Jan and I ride to Key West for a few days

Jan and I rode the motorcycle to Key West and stayed with our great friends, Bill and Michelle in Bahama Village. Bill and Michelle have a house on the Outer Banks as well as one in Key West and 2 in Ouray Colorado. We had a great time. I love that town. We took 2 days to ride down - staying on the A1A and US 1 all the way down. We mixed it up on the way home and did US 1 part of the time and the Florida Turnpike as well as I-95.

Here's a photo of our bike in front of Bill and Michelle's house.

More Bike Week Photos

Bike week is amazing. It gets old when you live here though. The vast majority of the bikes are Harleys and the vast majority of those have straight pipes (with no muffler). The noise is terrible. I'm not sure what the appeal is to the people who ride a motorcycle that is so noisy, but having nearly half a million of them in town gets old.

Here's some photos from Bike Week.

Captain (Uncle) Jerry comes to town

My uncle Jerry keeps his boat in St. Augustine. He called me wednesday evening to say he had come down to do some maintainance on it, so I rode my motorcycle up to see him on Thursday. It's about a 90 minute ride each way if you take the coast road. We went out to his boat (moored just south of the famous "bridge of lions") and worked on it a bit. It was good to see him. Here's a photo of he and I on the dock.

Bike Week

Bike Week is going on here in Daytona. You simply can't imagine how many motorcycles are here. According to the local officials - there's 500,000 bikers in town. No matter where you go - there's bikes everywhere. It's fun, but it's a bit overdone as well.
